Intensive Couples Therapy in Roseville CA

Make meaningful progress in days, not months.

When your relationship is in crisis—or you simply want to go deeper faster—weekly sessions may not be enough. Intensive couples therapy gives you dedicated, uninterrupted time to work through the issues that matter most.

What Is Intensive Couples Therapy?

Intensive therapy is three hours of therapy per day for one, two, or three days.

In between sessions, I will give you targeted assignments for writing and discussion.

Weekly therapy is like learning a language one hour at a time. An intensive is like spending a weekend immersed in that language.

Who Benefits from Intensives?

Intensive couples therapy works well for couples who:

  • Are in crisis and need immediate, focused attention

  • Have busy schedules that make weekly sessions difficult

  • Feel stuck after months of traditional therapy

  • Are traveling from out of the area and need condensed treatment

  • Want to jumpstart their growth

  • Are preparing for or recovering from a major transition (infidelity, new marriage, blending families)

Intensives aren't only for couples on the brink. Many healthy couples use them as a marriage retreat—a chance to reconnect and strengthen their foundation.

Before Your Intensive

We'll do one normal therapy session before your intensive, which allows me to determine your goals and concerns and figure out the best way to use our time together.

During Your Intensive

We'll do three hours of therapy per day with breaks built in. Depending on your needs, we might meet for a single day or spread the work across two or three days.

The pace is different from weekly therapy. We go deeper. We stay with difficult topics instead of holding them for next week. We practice skills in real-time and troubleshoot them together.

You'll leave each day with specific tools and homework to reinforce what you've learned.

After Your Intensive

Most couples benefit from follow-up sessions to maintain momentum. We'll create a plan that fits your needs—whether that's transitioning to weekly therapy, scheduling periodic check-ins, or simply knowing you can return when needed.

Pricing

Three-hour sessions cost $750. Four-hour sessions cost $1,000.

Is an Intensive Right for You?

Your irst 50-minute session is free. We'll discuss your relationship, where it is, and where you want to go. We'll figure out if an intensive is perfect for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is an intensive?

Intensives are three hours per day, spread across one to three days depending on your needs and availability.

Do we need to prepare anything?

If I need anything from you, I'll let you know during our introductory session.

What if we're in crisis?

Intensives can be particularly helpful during crisis because they provide immediate, sustained attention. That said, if there's active abuse, addiction, or untreated mental health issues, we may need to address those concerns first.

Can we do an intensive remotely?

Yes. While in-person intensives have certain advantages, video sessions work well for many couples—especially those traveling from outside the Roseville area.

What happens if we need more time?

We can always schedule additional sessions. Some couples do one intensive and feel complete. Others return periodically for "tune-ups." There's no one-size-fits-all approach.
