Coaching
I can still help you with your relationship even if you don't live in California.
I work with clients around the globe via secure video sessions. Whether you're in London, Sydney, Toronto, or anywhere else outside California, coaching gives you access to the same principles and approaches I use with my therapy clients—focused on growth, clarity, and building the relationship you want.
What Is Relationship Coaching?
Coaching is forward-focused. Instead of treating mental health conditions, we work on specific goals: improving communication, navigating a difficult decision, strengthening your connection, or figuring out what you actually want from your relationship.
Think of it like working with a skilled guide. I bring decades of experience helping couples grow. You bring the willingness to look honestly at yourself and your relationship. Together, we figure out what's not working and what to do about it.
Coaching works well for couples and individuals who:
Want to improve a good relationship and make it great
Are facing a specific challenge (career change, relocation, blending families)
Feel stuck in patterns but don't have a mental health diagnosis
Want practical tools and direct feedback
Live outside California and can't access my therapy services
How Coaching Differs From Therapy
This distinction matters, so let me be clear:
Outside of California, I do not:
Diagnose mental health conditions
Treat psychological disorders
Provide therapy or counseling
Create treatment plans for mental illness
Provide documentation for insurance reimbursement
Coaching is not covered by insurance. Because coaching is not a healthcare service, you cannot submit sessions for reimbursement from your health insurance provider.
As a coach, I do:
Help you clarify what you want
Offer direct observations about patterns I see
Teach practical skills for communication and connection
Challenge you to grow beyond your comfort zone
Hold you accountable to your own goals
If you're experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health concerns, therapy is the appropriate service. I offer therapy to clients located in California. For clients outside California, I offer coaching.
My Approach
My coaching draws on the same principles I use in my therapy practice—particularly the concept of differentiation: becoming solid enough in yourself that you can be truly close to another person without losing yourself in them.
Most relationship problems come down to two people who haven't fully developed themselves trying to get the other person to change. Coaching helps you focus on the only person you can actually control: yourself.
We'll work on developing what I call a quiet mind and calm heart—the ability to manage your own emotions without needing your partner to soothe you, and without trying to manage theirs.
This isn't about learning communication tricks or conflict resolution scripts. It's about becoming someone who can handle the truth about yourself and your relationship.
How It Works
Sessions are 50 minutes via secure video. We meet weekly or biweekly, depending on your goals and schedule.
Between sessions, you'll have specific things to practice or reflect on. Coaching works best when you're actively engaged in the process, not just showing up for sessions.
Timeline varies. Some clients come for a few sessions to work through a specific issue. Others work with me for several months on deeper patterns. We'll figure out what makes sense for your situation.
Pricing
Coaching sessions: $250 per 50-minute session. Your first session is free
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept major credit cards.
Is Coaching Right for You?
Coaching is a good fit if:
You're motivated to do the work, not just talk about problems
You want direct feedback, even when it's uncomfortable
You're focused on growth rather than symptom relief
You're willing to look at your own role in your relationship dynamics
You live outside California and want to work with me
Coaching may not be the right fit if:
You're in crisis or experiencing severe mental health symptoms
You need a diagnosis or treatment for a mental health condition
You're looking for someone to validate that your partner is the problem
You want insurance to cover your sessions
If you're unsure which service is right for you, reach out and we can discuss your situation.
Ready to Get Started?
Book a coaching session and let's talk about what you want to work on.
I'll ask you some questions about your situation and goals. You can ask me anything about how I work. By the end of our first conversation, you'll know whether coaching with me makes sense.
