Couples Therapy
I believe in the power of couples therapy to build better relationships and stronger families. The benefits of couples therapy get passed down from one generation to the next. If you have children, they will inherit all the benefits of the work you do in therapy.
What it is
Couples therapy is a way to improve your relationship by changing the way you and your partner think, feel and act.
How it works
Relationships improve when individuals get stronger. Starting with your very first session, I will show you how to bring more courage, compassion, and connection into your relationship. Your brain has to grow and develop in a way that will make you more capable of having the kind of relationship you want to have. I will show you how much power you have to change your relationship, regardless of what your partner does.
How long does it take
Most couples come once a week for six weeks, and then every other week for two or three months. I want you to see a noticeable change in your relationship every time you come to therapy. My favorite sessions are the first and the last, because I love to meet new couples, and I love to say goodbye to a couple after they have transformed their relationship.
Why I prefer Couples Therapy to Individual Therapy
Your greatest strengths and weaknesses are revealed by the way you treat the people you care about the most. If you come to me for individual therapy, it’s much harder for me to figure out where to focus my attention. Once you bring your partner into the room, things become much more clear. As you get stronger, you will see rapid improvements in all of your relationships.
Do I have to talk about my childhood?
I will ask you about your childhood, but we won’t spend much time on the topic. 80% of human brain development occurs before age 12, so your parents have a huge impact on how your brain works. Learning to see your parents more clearly makes it much easier to change the way you feel and act around your partner.
