Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 29, 2026
This policy covers this website, jamesmchristensen.com, run by James Christensen, LMFT (Roseville Couples Counseling), 300 Harding Blvd, Suite 108, Roseville, CA 95678. Phone: 916-292-8920.
It does not cover therapy records. If you become a client, what you share in therapy is protected by the confidentiality rules that apply to licensed therapists in California, and you will receive a separate notice about those records when you start.
What this site collects
What you send me. If you use the contact form, I receive your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), and your message. If you join the email list, I receive your first name and email address. Please keep private health details out of the contact form. We can talk about them in person.
What your browser sends automatically. Like most websites, this site records which pages are visited, the page you came from, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. Most of this is collected through the services listed below, using cookies and similar technology.
Outside services this site uses
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager measure how people use the site, such as which pages are read and which links are clicked.
- Google Ads measures whether ads lead people to call or to click the scheduling link. Google may use cookies for this.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it from attacks, and runs the Turnstile spam check on the forms. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser to tell people from bots.
- SimplePractice runs the scheduling page at james.clientsecure.me. When you request an appointment there, SimplePractice's own privacy policy applies.
- An email service provider (currently MailerLite) stores the email list, if you join it. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe.
- Amazon links appear on the reading list and in some articles. I am an Amazon Associate, so I earn a small commission if you buy through one of those links, at no extra cost to you. Amazon may set its own cookies once you click through, and its privacy policy applies from then on.
- YouTube hosts the videos. On the homepage, a video does not load from YouTube until you click play. Once it plays, YouTube may set its own cookies.
How I use information
I use what you send to answer your message, to set up a first session if you want one, and to send the emails you signed up for. I use site statistics to understand which pages help people and to measure whether advertising works. I do not sell your personal information.
Tracking across other websites
Google (through Analytics, Tag Manager, and Ads) and YouTube (once you play a video) may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites.
This site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals. You can still limit tracking: block or delete cookies in your browser settings, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and manage ad personalization at My Ad Center.
Keeping information safe
Forms are sent over an encrypted connection. Messages from the contact form arrive in my email inbox. Email and web forms are not a secure place for sensitive details, so please save those for a session.
Reviewing or changing your information
If you have sent me information through this site and want to see it, correct it, or have it deleted, call 916-292-8920 or use the contact form. You can leave the email list at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email.
Children
This site is meant for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
